Conserving Nature

Adopt-a-Park

Estimated Outlay: $50,000 per 25 Adopters

Launched in Feb 1997, the Adopt A Park (AAP) scheme gives participants a sense of ownership for public parks. The scheme aims to develop greater environmental awareness and facilitates community cohesion through park-based activities. Adopters encompass all segments of the community including schools, grassroots organizations, and even businesses. Participants take part by “adopting” certain areas of parks and help care for and tend the greenery.

Park Watch Scheme

Estimated Outlay: $5,000 per volunteer group

The Park Watch Scheme is aimed at promoting public involvement and a sense of ownership of public parks. Under this scheme, volunteers act as “Community Ambassadors”, helping to introduce new programs, taking care of their parks and helping to ensure safety of park users who need help and helping to report unlawful activities .

Young Explorers Scheme

Estimated Outlay: $50,000 per explorer package

Most of our parks have interesting aspects that park users can explore and learn a bit more about nature, conservation, history, botany, or even culture. The Young Explorer Scheme presents these interesting features though various programs to encourage park visitors to experience an enhanced level of park usage.
