| A City Pleasant, Green and Cool.... More than four decades ago, then Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, had a vision. It was to turn our city, which was rapidly becoming urbanized, into a lush verdant place to live. It may have seemed idealistic, but unwavering determination and precise planning brought about a remarkable transformation. No wonder then, that Singapore today, is renowned throughout the world as a garden city. Green, clean and beautiful. |

Now, as an integral part of that same far-sighted vision, the Garden City Fund is an important programme which will not only continue to shape our cosmopolitan city, but also enhance and enrich our lives. The Garden City Fund is a way for us, both as individuals and a community, to play a bigger, more important role in conserving and enhancing the splendid greenery that surrounds us. |

While our government will continue to provide for fundamental infrastructure development and maintenance of parks and greenery, the Garden City Fund will be used to finance programmes that are essential for the continued growth and development of our Garden City. These include conservation, outreach, education, research and infrastructure programmes. With Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew as our distinguished patron, the Garden City Fund is administered and managed by a Management Committee, which plans, develops and promotes the fund. |

The Garden City Fund is incorporated as a registered charity and can issue tax-deduction receipts, independent of the National Parks Board. >>
