Why tree planting?
And what's different about this programme?

It's a programme for everyone. It's about now, about our home, and our future. In the face of increasing global concern over climate change, destruction of forests and species extinction, do you want to do your part to improve the environment and be involved in working with the natural world around us? The Plant-A-Tree Programme is the answer.

Your chance to plant

The aim of this programme is to give you a chance to donate the cost of a young tree and to plant it yourself. It's a special kind of connection when you plant something living!

Why plant more trees in Singapore? Aren't there enough already? Well, definitely not. Trees are natural things. Like people they grow older and we have to keep replenishing them as trees have so much to offer.

Trees have helped beautify our environment but their values also lie in absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, increasing biodiversity, preventing soil erosion, providing shade and lowering the temperature of its surroundings.

We work hard to build up a sense of financial security for our families. We are able to achieve the comforts we have today through our hard work. But there are other securities we can think about - the security of our future generations, the security of our environment, and the kind of place we want to create. Thus, the Plant-A-Tree Programme is your 'green investment' for the future.

Studies have shown that when people are surrounded by greenery, family relationships are better, and people are measurably healthier. 'Visual exposure to trees' can also reduce stress in the fast-paced world that we are in today!
